Accessibility
Built for every client who needs to finish it.
Many of the people who fill in an estate planning questionnaire are older, use a phone, or have someone helping them. We design for them first.
The standard
This website and the Intara client questionnaire are built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Where our own rules are stricter, we follow them:
- Paragraph text on our text pages, like this one, is at least 17 pixels. On the other pages it is at least 14 pixels, and short labels and picture captions are at least 12 pixels. Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1.
- Buttons and answer choices are at least 44 pixels tall, and the main answer choices in the questionnaire are 56 pixels.
- Color is never the only way information is shown.
- Everything works with a keyboard, and the focused item is always visible. The bar that stays on screen as you scroll never covers it.
- Pages still work when text is enlarged to 200 percent, and at a width of 320 pixels without sideways scrolling.
- Only the walkthrough at the top of our home page moves on its own. It has a pause button, and it stops for good once you tap it, swipe it or move into it with the keyboard. When your device is set to reduce motion, it shows the finished picture instead.
How we test
- Automated accessibility checks on every page, at phone and desktop widths, before each release.
- Keyboard-only checks of the forms, the menus, the rows of cards you can swipe, the questions and answers, and the pause button.
- Checks with the page enlarged and with reduced motion.
Known gaps
- We have not yet completed a full test with a screen reader (VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone), or in Windows high-contrast mode. We will update this page when both are done.
- The walkthrough at the top of our home page is a visual summary. Screen readers hear a short description of each step instead, and everything it shows is also in the text of the page.
- The pictures of the app on our pages are drawings. Screen readers hear a short summary of each picture, not every word inside it.
- When your law firm sends you a letter to sign or a request for payment, the signing page and the payment page come from other companies your law firm uses. We do not control how well those pages work with assistive technology. If one gets in your way, tell your law firm. They can help you sign or pay another way.
- The bot check on our waitlist form comes from Cloudflare. It is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, but we do not control it. If it gets in your way, email hello@intaralegal.com and we will add you to the waitlist.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this website, or in a questionnaire your law firm sent you, does not work for you, email hello@intaralegal.com. Tell us the page and what happened. Please do not include details about your legal matter.
